UK man arrested on suspicion of US Department of Defense hacking

A British man has been arrested for allegedly being involved in a US Department of Defense hacking operation.

The 23-year-old, who was not identified, is suspected of stealing data from the DoD, including contact information for around 800 employees and information used to identify thousands of devices, the New York Times reported on Friday.

However, the National Crime Agency of Britain said in a statement to the Times that “no sensitive data was obtained” and the cyberattack did not have an effect on US security.
